"I shall be telling this

                with a sigh

Somewhere ages and

ages hence.

Two roads diverged

 in a wood,

and I-

I took the one

less traveled

by

And that has made

  all the difference.

The objective of Parents as Partners is to provide parents with information and understanding of what their children are learning in school and the role of assessment as well as to get them to become active participants in their children's education.

Each subject department is responsible for inviting parents to attend an evening workshop during which parents are shown various ways they can help improve their children's learning performance and preparation for state assessments.

Areas in which I applied my understanding of the coursework connected to prior knowledge and experiences in Parents as Partners:

bullet

Supervising and setting guidelines for staff members to reach goals in implementing parental involvement

bullet

Working with staff members to create agendas and plan hands-on activities for parents based on resources and materials

bullet

Collaborating with teaching staff to incorporate reading, writing, and differentiated instruction across the content areas

bullet

Developing flyers and telephone announcements with translations to inform parents about workshops

bullet

Creating newsletters with Spanish translations to provide outreach to parents unable to attend workshops
